First edition, signed and inscribed by the author, in very good condition. Sam Campbell was one of six children born to to William and Agnes Campbell. William Campbell was the founder of the Campbell sugar enterprise in Natal. Sam Campbell was a well respected doctor and educationalist. The book was written by his daughter Ethel Campbell, and published privately, as a tribute to her father.The book includes family photographs and illustrations and caricatures. Externally, publisher's beige cloth board covers, with red lettering surrounded by a decorative black frame design to the upper board. The covers show some minor foxing and a light brown stain on the back cover. Some minor wear to the extremities and tightly bound. Internally, inscribed and signed by the author “To St Leonards School Library With greetings from the writer (a Senior who was at St Leonards from 1902 to 1905)” with a date 1/11/52 and the address of the author is written below. On the inside of the front cover there is a paste down of St Leonards School. Pages are clean and bright and in good condition.
