Rare, first edition, hardcover, in very good condition. This interesting and scarce account of diamond mining has a brief notice of the new gold fields. There is a sketch map showing routes to the diamond fields and the book is divided into 5 main parts - Part I General Account of the Fields; Part II Routes to the Fields; Part III Sketches of Life and Character on the Fields; Part IV My Diary at the Dry Diggings; and Part V The Gold Fields. 10 pages of adverts at the end. Externally, publisher's salmon pink hardboards with a small gilt circular motif to the centre of the front board showing men digging for diamonds.  Gilt lettering to the spine. Boards are partly faded but firmly bound. Yellow endpapers with adverts. Please see photos provided as these serve to reflect the condition in conjunction with the condition details provided.

Overall condition is very good.
