Rare, hardcover guide, in very good condition. This book provides an insight into life in 1950s Pietermaritzburg and will appeal to collectors of books about this Natal city. Included is a note "With our Compliments and Thanks" from the Royal Hotel, Pietermaritzburg. It is presumed this book was given out by the hotel. Externally, covers are white glazed boards with gilt and black titles and city of Pietermaritzburg elephant motif , and Umgungunhlovu (Zulu name for the city) ,on the front. A little grubby with minor wear to the extremities. Tightly bound. Internally, pages are clean and bright.
